"Professional Billing and Coding Certification

When in the market for a billing or coding expert, you might want to check for certification.  Billing clerks are certified as Certified Medical Billing Specialists by the Medical Association of Billers, which requires them to attend six classes and pass an exam.  Typically, billers with more than two years experience move on to become coders.  Coders obtain certification as Certified Professional Coders from the American Academy of Professional Coders.
